WHAT HAPPENED TO BADMAN?
I have been very proud to provide space to emerging artists in years past through michaelwilliams.com, unfilteredfilms.com and other sites that I'm affiliated with. In particular I felt that the space that I had allotted to animator and digital artist Sean Nadeau and his Badman Productions was filling a need in independent animation - a space where Nadeau could express himself through his animation without outside influences of censorship or .com corporate influence. We were entirely successful in this enterprise. However, as it turns out we have been entirely too successful.
We are still unsure what events transpired in the first few weeks of October 2003 - bulk emails, linking from other websites - I'm sure it all played some part. However we do know the result was an unprecedented flow of traffic that was aimed at the unfilteredfilms/badman site. This flow topped out over the weekend of October 26 2003 with five-hundred people per second downloading Nadeau's animation. We at unfilteredfilms are very proud of Sean's accomplishments as an animator and continue to support him and his work. We are saddened to report that the realities of bandwidth and the possibility of some rather frightening bills from our host company's internet provider have caused us to permanently remove Badman from the unfilteredfilms website. Unfiltered was itself down for a number of days. We hope as unfilteredfilms returns to the internet that it provides a place to inform and entertain.
